Recently I spoke to Steve Cranston of Lilac Howell Films to see his insights on the power of video in marketing. We have digested his thoughts and summarised them in 8 key tips. If you would like to listen or watch the podcast below:
1. Video Increases Conversions and Sales
Did you know, by adding a product video to your website on average will increase conversions by around 80%. These can ultimately lead directly to sales. To throw in some data, studies show that 74% of users who watched an explainer-vide (a vide that goes into detail about the product) subsequently made the purchase. That's massive right?
If you think about it, the effectiveness of video is not even that surprising. After all, vision is our most dominant sense. Most information transmitted to our brain is visual. So if already pictures can boost engagement massively, imagine what moving pictures can do to your business.
2. Video Shows A Great Return On Your Investment
Another did you know. 83% of businesses say that video provides good return on investment. But how can this be measured? Is there a way that you can see the effectiveness of this video? Can it only be used once? These are all questioned we get asked consistently.
So, how exactly can you start your film journey. With modern day technology, you are no longer limited by technology, you are limited by your own ability and skill, however there are very simple ways for you to learn. Watch this video here on smartphone video tips:
3. Video Builds Trust
If you think about it, when you are emailing someone for the first time, you may have seen their LinkedIn profile, but your barriers are up because Video content is likely to engage us and ignite emotions. And when we talk about elite people in you haven't yet formed a bond.
Why does video work so well? Some consumers are still skeptical about buying products and services on the internet because they fear fraud, cheating and frankly people deceiving one another. But effective marketing videos present your products in a conversational form. This, in turn, creates a sense of trust as you are having a one way conversation with the company.
Fact: 57% of consumers say that videos gave them more confidence to purchase online.
4. How does it add value?
Video is often looked over for small video due to a number of reasons. Too expensive, lack of time, haven't got a following that will see the video. These are just 3 of many reasons why businesses don't invest in video. Watch the video below as Steve explains how it can help small businesses.
5. How to market your video to ensure leads are generated.
So, you may be thinking...this sounds great, but how do I actually get my videos to be seen. If I invest my time and money, will I really get the ROI you are talking about. If marketed correctly, then your videos can be extremely valuable to your business.
So my top 5 tips to marketing your videos are:
1) Tell a story, don’t be a salesman
2) Make the first 10 seconds count
3) Include captions
4) End with a call-to-action
5) Use Paid Advertising.
